TRECSA, a subsidiary of Grupo Energía de Bogotá in Guatemala, appointed Mauricio Acevedo as new general manager

Bogotá D.C. September 22, 2017. The Board of Directors of Transportadora de Energía en Centroamérica (TRECSA), a subsidiary of Grupo Energía de Bogotá (GEB), appointed Mauricio Acevedo Arredondo, who served as substitute manager for nine months, as the company’s new General Manager.
Mauricio Acevedo is an electrical engineer graduated from Universidad Nacional de Colombia; he has a wide knowledge and experience in integrated asset management, design, construction and formulation of infrastructure transmission line projects, also including experience in environmental and risk management.
He will be responsible for leading the ambitious project carried out by GEB in Guatemala, which is intended to strengthen the Interconnected National System, essential for the country’s development and progress. The Group has invested over 500 million dollars in this project that has been declared of national interest and assessed as one of the most important infrastructure works in Latin America.
Once the Expansion Plan for Energy Transport (PET) is completed, it will mainly benefit families and businesses within the country as a result of the generation of over 800.000 jobs nationwide during the first 12 years upon completion of the project, which will further improve the purchasing power of every economically active citizen in some 100 dollars per year.
PET includes the construction of 866 km transmission grids, 11 new substations and the expansion of an extra 12 substations, which will improve the service in more than 300 communities of this country.
