06 January 2017
Bogota D.C., January 3, 2017. Grupo de Energia de Bogota (GEB) launched its new supply model, which enables it to make considerable savings, optimize execution and improve response times for users, all in all achieving more efficiency in purchasing and contracting processes.
Electronic contracting services were implemented in this new model thanks to e-commerce tools, through which GEB was able to hold its first electronic reverse auction and save USD $1,134,750, in an operational supply purchase process. In addition, a virtual portal was implemented in order to visualize all the purchasing and contracting processes of the Group, through which more than 364 bids have been received.
The efficiency in purchasing and contracting matters has been maximized with the new processes, making a saving to date of USD $3,275,652 and decreasing execution time by 60%.
The implementation of this new model will be carried out in the other companies of the Group in Colombia, Peru and Guatemala, in which the excellent results obtained so far in GEB hope to be replicated.
Mauro Mejia, GEB strategic supply director, highlighted that“we are aligning ourselves with worldwide best practices related to field of supply, implementing practices that had not been implemented yet, such as the Group’s purchasing and contracting management, focusing on obtaining the best cost-benefit ratio for each of the goods and services we contract”.
This initiative is fundamental for the Group and its companies as it is part of its commitment to good corporate governance, efficiency and corporate transparency with which the optimization of resources in each of the purchasing and contracting processes is sought.
