Empresa de Energía de Bogotá (EEB) is ranked as the energy company with the longest history in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in Colombia

- The Dow Jones is the most internationally recognized sustainability index and analyzes the performance of leading companies in social, environmental and economic aspects.
Bogotá, D.C., September 11, 2017. For the sixth consecutive year, Empresa de Energía de Bogotá (EEB) has been ratified as one of the Colombian companies listed on the stock exchange with the best performance in its sustainability management.
According to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, EEB stands out in the emerging markets category for its world-class good practices in labor indicators, biodiversity and environmental management. It also stood out for its code of conduct, risk management, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices and relationship with its stakeholders.
EEB scored above 89% of the companies in the sector, included in the global index.
The Dow Jones is the most internationally recognized sustainability index that analyzes the performance of leading companies in social, environmental and economic areas. It was created in 1999 with the purpose of recognizing companies with high standards in the mentioned topics, which is why it is a great recognition to be part of. As of 2017, nine Colombian companies are listed as members of the index.

Since 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index every year invites a group of companies from around the world, representing 60 of the industry’s production, to report their performance in terms of corporate sustainability. S&P, Dow Jones Indexes and RobecoSAM, which gather experience in corporate and sustainable investment indices, collaborate in applying the evaluation methodologies employed in their indexes.
The evaluation methodologies comprise economic, environmental and social criteria, with a long-‐ term perspective to create value. The companies that are part of the index have better capabilities and are better prepared to take advantage of the opportunities for sustainable development.
The evaluation is oriented toward identifying the best companies and provides comparative analysis tools that promote the integration of sustainability with corporate strategies.
