December 2, 2016. The President of Peru, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, has inaugurated the new free natural gas connection granted by Contugas, a company of Grupo Energía de Bogotá, to “Almirante Miguel Grau” education institution, in Pisco, Peru. Such connection is part of the Nutri Contugas social program implemented by the company in the Ica region, which is benefiting children in the area by giving them a balanced diet.
Nutri-Contugas is providing free natural gas connections to meal centers serving the vulnerable population in the area where the company operates. Once connected, the benefited meal centers by the program will only pay for the use of safer, cleaner, cheaper and more environmentally-friendly gas. Thus, volunteer mothers will be able to reduce costs and prioritize their efforts to feed children in the region with a balanced menu and more appropriate premises conditions.
The Nutri-Contugas program also encourages the improvement of infrastructure in school canteens, because kitchen will be adjusted so they can work using domestic gas, the façade and interior of the premises will be revamped, and new goods, such as kitchenware and kitchens, will be supplied. Contugas, a company of Grupo Energía de Bogotá, has been implementing this program in places such as Marcona, Ica and Chicha in Peru, benefiting over 100 partners in 5 different meal centers serving nearly 800 users.
During this event, the Peruvian head of state, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, highlighted Contugas’s work in the region, and the significance of mass natural gas use in areas that are far away from Lima. On the other hand, Jorge Ramos, Contugas General Manager, highlighted the company’s commitment to bring comprehensive and sustainable progress to regions through its sustainability programs and the multiple natural gas benefits provided to consumers and the population in general.
Upon this delivery, Grupo Energía de Bogotá consolidates its social contribution through connections for school canteens, where a high-impact effort has also been made in Lima and Callao, connecting –through Cálidda– 586 meal centers to date, benefiting 55,000 individuals on average.
“Apart from providing energy solutions in large urban areas in Colombia and Peru, for Grupo Energía de Bogotá it is essential to contribute to the development and quality of life of communities, especially in vulnerable areas. This is why we will continue to strengthen free connection programs such as those we develop at Cálidda and Contugas in Peru”, stated Astrid Álvarez, GEB CEO.
