EEB will build a project to enhance electric power transmission in the department of El Cesar

Bogotá D.C., 14 April 2015. The Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME), this Tuesday awarded Empresa de Energía de Bogotá (EEB), parent company of Grupo Energía de Bogotá, the construction, operation and maintenance of La Loma 500kV substation and associated transmission lines in the municipality of El paso in the department of El Cesar.
Such project, consisting on the construction of a new 500kV substation and two transmission lines in single circuit with an approximate length of one kilometer, will allow solving reliability problems and voltage levels, which the system currently presents in El Cesar and the entire Colombian Atlantic Coast.
Likewise, with the start-up of this substation and the associated transmission lines, it will enable the connection of industrial and commercial users in the short and medium term.
Mr. Ricardo Roa Barragán, CEO of Grupo Energía de Bogotá, showed his satisfaction with the achievements obtained this year. “With this award, we have completed four electric power transmission projects that we have won this year in tender offers opened in the country. As I have previously expressed, this fact fills us with a huge pride, but also represents a big commitment to continue striving towards fulfilling these initiatives”, stated Mr. Roa.
The award of this project, which is foreseen to start operation on November 30, 2016 and where EEB submitted the best offer amounting to a net present value of US$10.494.278, was granted in the presence of the President of Colombia, Mr. Juan Manuel Santos Calderón; the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Mr. Tomás González Estrada; Jorge Valencia Marín, Director of UPME and Mr. Ricardo Roa Barragán, CEO of EEB.
EEB is currently in charge of the construction of national transmission projects, such as: tender offers UPME STR 07-2014 Río Córdoba 220/110 kV, Tesalia-Alférez, Armenia, Chivor II-Norte, Cartagena-Bolívar, Río Córdoba at 230 kV, Sogamoso and Southwestern Reinforcement at 500 kV.
