Press Release N° 2

Bogotá, Colombia, 27 August 2012

The 25 technicians that make up the team in charge of the reconstruction of the tower in the Tunal – Circo, Tunal – San Mateo transmission line have worked over 48 hours. Work includes the manufacturing of the missing structure, dismounting of pylon foot of the tower and excavations to free damaged pylons of tower structure.

Similarly, the dismounting of 3 broken insulator strings was conducted, 5 conductors were freed from the crossarms of the tower and repairs in site of spare parts (structure, insulators and  bundles among others) to start mounting the tower base. The works will continue with the dismounting of tower arms, freeing guard cables and phase conductors, and assembly of structural elements of the tower.

Once we receive the missing piece from manufacturer, we will proceed to mount the crossarms of the towers horizontal member.  EEB has in site all human and technical resources required to re-establish energy transmission of Tunal – Circo, Tunal –San Mateo line as fast as possible.  Not having this transmission line available does not affect the service rendered to the city of Bogota.

Authorities continue their investigation to find out its origin.
