EEB Wins Again With Best Offer For The Sogamoso - Norte – Nueva Esperanza Project, Contributing With Reliability To Bogota And The Country

• The project was awarded to EEB by the Mining and Energy Planning Unit (Upme for its acronym in spanish) by presenting the offer with the lowest estimated value at U.S. $ 171 million.

• The award confirms the leadership of the Grupo Energía de Bogotá in the development of the expansion of the National Transmission System contributing with reliability to the people of Bogotá.

Bogotá D.C., May 8, 2014. On Wednesday, the Mining and Energy Planning Unit (Upme for its acronym in spanish) awarded to Empresa Energía de Bogotá (EEB), holding of Grupo Energía de Bogotá, the UPME Sogamoso - Norte – Nueva Esperanza project - 01-2013 with an estimated investment of U.S. $ 171 million being the best bid received to benefit users in Colombia.

As recalled, on 24 April, the Board of Directors was authorized to participate in the call to select the investor for the design, acquisition of supplies, construction, operation and maintenance of the Norte Substation 500 kV and the Sogamoso - Norte – Nueva Esperanza 500kV transmission line and consequently, with a competitive bid the company won with efficiency.

This project, which is found in the UPME Expansion Plan 2013-2027, it is important to ensure the energy service in the central east of the country, particularly in the departments of Cundinamarca, Meta and Tolima, and the Capital of the Republic. As a result, the people from Bogotá will receive greater reliability thanks to EEB.

Regarding the award, the EEB CEO, Sandra Stella Fonseca Arenas stated that "this confirms the leadership of Grupo Energía de Bogotá for the development of the expansion of the National Transmission System and is a major step we take in the consolidation of our expansion plan and growth in Colombia contributing with energy to the country.”

Sandra Stella Fonseca Arenas also noted that this is one of the bids that the company wins, of the 14 projects that the Government has provided for this 2014. "EEB consolidates its participation and interest by playing an active and participatory role in the development of the country through the implementation of projects that contributes taking the best energy to Colombians,” Fonseca said.
This project is in addition to those already undertaken by the company in various parts of the country such as Armenia - 230kV substation Project and associated transmission lines; Alférez Substation 230kv and associated transmission lines which entered into full operation last February; Tesalia 230kv substation and associated lines; the Chivor II and Norte 230kv substations and associated lines and SVC - Substation Construction Tunal Bogotá. This is how the company consolidates as the second electricity transmission company in Colombia and the first with higher growth in the last two years.
