Bogotá D.C., January 10, 2020. The president of Transportadora de Gas Internacional (TGI), Mauricio Vera, gave his opinion today on the statements of the Minister of Mining and Energy, María Fernanda Suárez, regarding the actions that the National Government is proposing to guarantee the gas supply from 2024.

Vera expressed his full support for the projects that the Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME) and the Ministry of Mining and Energy are proposing, recalling that TGI has always supported all the actions that the National Government has been carrying out in relation to the Supply Plan. In particular he mentioned that he welcomes the news of having the regasification plant in Buenaventura; he considers the proposal to be accurate and focused on ensuring that the demand continues to have enough gas for the various productive activities in benefit of the country's growth.

He made it clear that TGI's interest as the main natural gas transportation company in Colombia, and especially in the interior of the country, is that the demand can have complete peace of mind about the availability of this energy source in the future, regardless of whether the source is domestic or imported. "What is relevant is that the demand can grow, supporting the development of the market in general," said the executive.

Likewise, he reiterated TGI's interest in participating in the technical committee that the UPME proposes to create, to ensure that the actions that Minister Suarez has rightly proposed are carried out in such a way that the risk of shortage is mitigated. "It is important that immediate actions are taken, among which is the publication of the terms of reference for the selection of investors in the gas import project in the Colombian Pacific, given that time is of the essence," said Vera.
