Grupo Energía de Bogotá commences a support agreement for IDIPRON children, adolescents and youth

Bogota D.C., December 16, 2016. Grupo de Energía de Bogotá and the Institute for Childhood and Youth Protection (IDIPRON, acronym in Spanish) entered into an agreement which purpose is to join forces and to develop support and volunteering activities in favor of street children, adolescents and youth served by the Institute.
This agreement was commenced upon the opening of a new IDIPRON administrative office at Calle 61 numero 7-78, where Grupo Energía de Bogotá will focus its volunteering activities and support to IDIPRON’S efforts.
This opening was led by Bogota Mayor, Enrique Peñalosa; Grupo Energía de Bogotá (GEB) CEO, Astrid Álvarez Hernández; and Father Wilfredo Grajales, IDIPRON Director.
Mr. Peñalosa stated: “We are very happy to open this office for IDIPRON, where special recognition is given to such children and youth who have decided to change their life and are courageous enough to move on. Thank you and congratulations on this joy you give us, and on behalf of the people of Bogota, thank you, IDIPRON, for such a great work you are doing”.
In turn, Astrid Álvarez, GEB CEO, said during her speech that “for several months, through our volunteer program,Unidos con Energia, we have supported IDIPRON with their various leisure-recreational activities for the good of these children and youth. This is why this agreement commencement today means the strengthening of the shared value strategy with an entity we really cherish. We are committed to working with IDIPRON to recover such children’s and youth’s hope, who have suffered the harshness of life on the streets, and today they see a new light”.
GEB CEO also made a call to businessmen, institutions and citizens generally to engage in this kind of initiatives that contribute to the sustainable development of society through resocialization and restoration of rights of vulnerable populations.
