Mr. David Riaño Alarcón appointed TGI’s new president

- The Board of Directors appointed Mr. Riaño as the lead of the largest natural gas transportation company in Colombia servicing the most populated areas of the country
Bogotá, D.C. 24 October 2014. The Board of Directors of Transportadora de Gas Internacional –TGI–, affiliate of Grupo Energía de Bogotá, appointed Mr. David Riaño Alarcón as the new President, replacing Mr. Ricardo Roa Barragan, recently appointed CEO of Grupo EB.
Mr. Riaño Alarcón was the former Regulations Manager and interim President of the leading gas transportation company in the country. He has over 19 years of experience in the energy and public utility sectors, his main challenge is to contribute to the company’s growth, which is currently underway with the expansion of Ballena and Cusiana gas pipelines and the completion of La Sabana compression station.
Mr. Riaño is an Electrical Engineer from Universidad de la Salle, specialized in Management of Engineering Projects from that same institution; he has further studies in Public Utility Regulations and Strategy from Florida University and has a master degree in Economics and Industrial Engineering from Universidad Javeriana and Universidad de los Andes respectively.
During his professional career, Mr. Riaño has been Advisor to the Energy and Gas Regulation Commission, Technical Director of Energy Management, Superintendent of Energy and Gas and Deputy Superintendent of the Household Utilities Superintendence and Director of Sectorial and Environmental Issues of the Colombian Association of Electric Power Generators – ACOLGEN (for its Spanish acronym).
TGI is the leading natural gas transport company in the country, enjoying a market share of 47,6% and its infrastructure has an extension of 3.957 Kilometers and services highly populated areas in the country, such as Bogotá, Medellín, Bucaramanga, Coffee Growers Region and Llanos Foothills.
