Bogota. D.C. July 4, 2017. Cálidda, a company in which Grupo Energía de Bogotá(GEB) has a 60% stake, will continue to expand its natural gas connections in Lima and Callao in Peru. With its expansion plan, the company expects to reach nearly 560,000 connections this year and one million by 2021, thus benefiting 5 million people.

To date, the company has already exceeded 450,000 connections, achieving a penetration of 58.7% and impacting more than 2 million people, who already enjoy an affordable, safe, modern and eco-friendly fuel. In addition, there are 236.000 vehicles that have been converted to natural gas in the Peruvian capital, with a 12% penetration in this sector.

This accelerated progress has been possible thanks to the Peruvian government's ambitious natural gas expansion plan, which includes the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), whose purpose is to massively increase the service, generating development and better quality of life for families in Lima and Callao.

Currently, Cálidda holds a 33-year concession to design, build and operate the natural gas distribution system in the department of Lima and the Constitutional Province of Callao in Peru. It is also a pioneer in providing this public service in this country, with an investment in the last 6 years of more than 450 million dollars.

"We want to be the leading group in Latin America for energy development in large cities and consolidate ourselves as a facilitator of urban energy solutions in the region, developing and operating the necessary infrastructure to meet the demand for electricity and natural gas in cities. With natural gas, we contribute significantly to the quality of life of millions of Peruvians. Our goal is to benefit many more," said Astrid Álvarez, CEO of Grupo Energía de Bogotá.

Also, as part of its Social Responsibility Program "Comedores Cálidda", Cálidda has connected free of charge the natural gas service to more than 600 soup kitchens in more than 16 districts of Lima.
