Vehicular Natural Gas combines economic, energy efficiency and environmental goals for future clean metropolis
06 April 2017
- Grupo Energía de Bogotá and TGI - Transportadora de Gas Internacional -, invited Mr. Josep Ariño Sarrato of Barcelona’s Metropolitan Transportation Department to talk about the benefits of VNG for major cities during the 20th National Naturgas Conference.
Cartagena, Colombia. Thursday April 6, 2017. The renowned Spanish expert, José Ariño Sarrato, will keynote within the framework the 20th National Naturgas Conference being held in Cartagena this week.
Ariño Sarrato, Electric Engineer from Universidad Politécnica of Cataluña and Board member of Sociedad de Técnicos de Automoción (Society of Automotive Technicians) was invited by Grupo Energía de Bogotá and TGI - Transportadora de Gas Internacional- to talk about the benefits of VNG with the purpose of promoting the use of this fuel for vehicle transportation.
Ariño stands out internationally for being responsible for -among other things- the successful development of new projects undertaken by the Metropolitan Transportation Department of Barcelona, Spain.
“Vehicular natural gas provides significant economic savings to users both in terms of energy and maintenance as compared to other fuels. It reduces CO2, NO2 , while ending SO2, heavy metals and polluting particles, which improves the environment and health of inhabitants of major cities. Several countries of the world think of VNG as today’s great alternative for public service and heavy-duty road transportation. It’s also crucial that governments' administrations and institutions work together with supply chain companies in spreading and developing this technology in the VNG’s market,”Ariño said.
Joseph has taken part in European Commission projects regarding buses with hydrogen fuel cells, collaborating in projects such as the UITP Benchmarking for vehicle fleets and rapid transit bus projects, among others.
“At TGI we understand the cities’ energy needs and the mechanisms to stimulate demand. We work as allies with gas producers and distributors to offer natural gas for homes, commerce, industry and transportation as an inexpensive and environmental energy source. A fact that proves our commitment to the market is our teamwork with Ecopetrol and Gas Natural Fenosa, with which we’ve entered into an agreement to promote the use of VNGs in Bogota,”said Julián García, TGI’s president.
The conference, to be held next Friday April 7th from 8:00 to 10:00 am, will explain why VNGs, apart from being a solution for clean cities, offers important economic savings and social and environmental benefits.
