01 March 2017
Bogota D.C., March 1, 2017. Grupo de Energía de Bogotá (GEB), in the context of the UPME 05 – 2012 Bolivar Circuit – Cartagena Project, continues to support communities where it has presence through various social initiatives.
Now, GEB has provided pedagogical materials to 220 children in 10 sections in Membrillal, Cartagena, and Aguas Prietas in the Municipality of Turbaco –areas of influence of the project. These materials include notebooks and wind-powered robots, which were delivered by GEB employees in this Colombian region.
By delivering these materials, the purpose is to make children acquire new knowledge, capacities and skills that contribute to improve their abilities; and to share, in a didactical manner, the relevance of electrical energy and natural gas.
This kind of educational initiatives are part of GEB sustainability policy, which premise is the establishment of a permanent relationship to create bonds of trust in territories where it operates.
It is to keep in mind that the UPME 05 – 2012 Project is intended to increase the energy transportation capacity towards the Caribbean region, mainly towards the Department of Bolivar, which will allow energy generated in other Colombian regions into the Colombian Caribbean consumption centers, so as to improve reliability and reduce the power shortage risk. This will thus ensure power supply under conditions that will facilitate the economic growth in the region.
Also, this project is part ofPlan 5 Caribe–a plan the National Government will use to strengthen the electric power system in Costa Atlántica for better quality of service.
